A New Screw ... Who Knew?

Who knew? Well, now you do. From the moment we screwed around with this new screw, it was considered by our editorial crew to be a shoo-in for an award. And sure enough, it recently received the 2011 HANDY Innovation Award Honorable Mention. It's the Spiral Point Funnel Head Screw from Quickscrews International Corp.
The Funnel Head features a tip designed to clean out — rather than blow out — a hole so users can cleanly and accurately screw into particleboard and melamine without having to drill a pilot hole or a countersink hole. Yes, the screw's self-tapping point bores a pilot hole, and its flat head (with square-drive socket) also makes its own counterbore — without splitting the wood. Check out the Funnel Head in action in this video.
